Education and Outreach

Nursery and primary schools
Treblos are experienced with working with children of all ages but have a particular passion for early years education. We have presented workshops in Ireland, Oxfordshire and across the London area as well as working with the education department of the Wigmore Hall on their chamber tots programme.

We can provide:

  • Age-appropriate short workshops introducing wind instruments and the basics of music. We encourage the children to get as involved with the music as they like, be that by clapping or singing along or just moving to the music. For junior school children we introduce basic elements of music such as dynamics, tempo and pitch and explain how wind instruments produce their sound.

  • Mini concerts for the whole school to enjoy. We play a wide range of repertoire from classical music to cartoon theme tunes and involve the audience in the music making as much as possible.
Secondary schools
Our key stage 3 and 4 workshops are flexible to suit the needs of each school.

We can provide:

  • Concerts in a wide range of music styles
  • Ensemble coaching for schools with pre-formed chamber groups
  • Individual instrumental teaching (flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, french horn and piano)
  • Curriculum appropriate classes for music students at key stage 3 and GCSE level.
Feedback from previous workshops
‘The Treblos Wind Quintet chose a beautiful range of repertoire from Prokofiev to sea shanties, bringing the pieces alive with their passion for the music and wonderful performances. The ensemble also came up with workshop ideas, introducing their instruments and leading practical activities to introduce the basics of music. They are clearly committed to enthusing and educating children about music and showed enthusiasm for all aspects of the work.’

Elizabeth McCall
Acting Head of Learning, Wigmore Hall.

'Treblos Wind Quintet presented a wonderful introduction to the instruments of the orchestra to our children through the telling of the story of Peter and the Wolf. The childen were enthralled by the story, were very attentive and thoroughly enjoyed the session; Treblos pitched it at just the right level to inform, inspire and entertain.'
Anne Fontaine
Headteacher of Hawley Infants School
